Hotel Reels: What Does Professional Content Cost?

April 8, 20264 min read

Instagram Reels and TikTok videos are now one of the most important channels for attracting guests to your hotel. But what does it cost to have them produced professionally? We give an honest overview.

Why reels are essential for hotels

83% of travelers decide visually before reading a single review. Short, emotional vertical videos reach exactly this target audience where they spend their time: on Instagram and TikTok. Hotels that regularly post reels see more engagement, more website visits and ultimately more direct bookings. The algorithm strongly favors video content over static images, meaning reels achieve much greater organic reach. The problem: self-shot phone videos often look unprofessional and can damage your brand. A shaky room video doesn't convey the luxury experience your guests expect.

What formats are available?

Instagram Reels (15-30 seconds, vertical): Ideal for discovery and reach. Room tours, wellness scenes, arrival moments. These formats are the most shared and saved. TikTok Content: Similar to reels but with its own dynamics and trends. The platform is growing strongly in the travel space and reaches a younger demographic. Website Hero Videos (15-30 seconds, loop): For your hotel's homepage, running as a background video. Proven to increase website dwell time by up to 80%. Brand Films (60-120 seconds): Your hotel's story in a cinematic format. Ideal for campaigns, ads and presentations. A single well-made brand film can be used for years.

What does hotel content creation cost?

Prices depend on scope. A Content Day with 3 reels and 15 photos starts at CHF 3,200. Our most popular package, the Signature Stay, delivers 5 reels, a website hero video, 30 photos and a content strategy for CHF 4,600. For a complete campaign with 9 reels, brand film and 60+ photos, expect CHF 8,500. For hotels thinking long-term, we also offer a Content Partnership: CHF 3,000 per month for one shoot day, 3 reels and 15 photos. Important: All packages include full usage rights. You can use the content across all channels, including paid advertising.

What influences the price?

The price for hotel content depends on various factors. The number of shoot days is the most obvious: more shoot days mean more scenarios, more formats and more content variety. Complexity also plays a role. A simple room shoot is less involved than a fully orchestrated full-stay sequence across different times of day, outfits and locations. Travel and accommodation costs are discussed separately, with many hotels offering accommodation as part of the collaboration. The scope of post-production also affects the price: color grading, sound design and editing for a brand film are more involved than for a simple reel.

What to look for in a quote

When comparing quotes, pay attention to these points: Are usage rights included? Some providers charge for usage rights separately, which can significantly increase the price. With us, full usage rights are always included. How many revision rounds are included? Clarify upfront how many change requests are covered in the price. What exactly is delivered? Look for specific numbers: how many reels, how many photos, which formats? What does the timeline look like? From booking to delivery of finished content, the process should be transparently communicated. With us, the entire process takes 3-4 weeks.

Is the investment worth it?

Do the math: If Booking.com takes 25% commission and a room costs CHF 250 per night, you lose CHF 62.50 per booking to the platform. With 10 direct bookings per month driven by better content, you save CHF 625 monthly in OTA commissions. That's CHF 7,500 per year. A content shoot often pays for itself within just a few months. On top of that comes the branding effect: professional, consistent content strengthens your brand long-term and makes your hotel unmistakable. Guests who book through your own content often have a stronger connection to your property and higher return rates.
